A closer look
Daily Sudoku gives a familiar number puzzle a regular place in your day. Its grid uses the digits one through nine, with each digit appearing once in a row, once in a column and once in a three by three box. Four difficulty settings let you choose how much deduction you want to take on. An archive also makes earlier puzzles available.
How to play
Choose a difficulty and open a puzzle. Examine a row, column or box that already contains several digits, then identify the missing values. Check the crossing groups to narrow those possibilities. Enter a number only when its position makes sense across the whole grid. Continue from the new information each placement provides, returning to less complete areas as the available choices become clearer.
Think one move ahead
Every placement belongs to three groups at the same time: a horizontal row, a vertical column and a smaller square. A number that fits one group can still conflict with another. The challenge is to find values that satisfy all three. Compare the existing digits around an empty cell before deciding what belongs there.
